The Main Goal
It is my goal to help people achieve optimal health…physically, emotionally, and spiritually. This is a place that people can believe in, have hope, and feel comfortable sharing their healthcare needs and life decisions for themselves and their children. I value and appreciate all of my patients.
The Main Focus is CUSTOMER SERVICE
I strive to be available, and do my best to provide both same and next-day appointments. Secondly, I am sensitive to my patient’s concerns or fears. I understand not everyone is accustomed to chiropractic care. I also recognize that there are many misconceptions about chiropractic, so I encourage dialogue that make my patients visits less nerve-racking and more comforting.
How can you help with your care?
The ideal patient is proactive in their own health. They show up for their appointments, but also follow my recommendations for helping get the fastest recovery possible (ice, rest, different sleeping position, different ergonomics). And of course, the ideal patient is inquisitive about learning more about chiropractic and how it can help their loved ones.
If I had a magic wand, when it comes to the health, I would see every man, woman, and child in the community and encourage them to be under regular chiropractic care (once or twice per month). This would allow for a decreased need in over-the-counter medication, and perhaps less prescription medications. I would suggest exercise options that fit your life-style and help with suggestions to make the most out of care and ultimately your life. When you feel better your family will benefit. When the whole family makes changes, relationships change and become more meaningful.
Back Pain
Back pain is a common injury that can cause great pain and interfere with the daily functions of your life. Prior to the sudden onset of a back injury there is generally a pre-existing weakness within the internal structure of the spine. This weakness will then become vulnerable, triggering pain by the lifting of a heavy object, a sudden, quick movement or the sitting in a position for too long of a period.
Some causes for back pain include:
- Bulging and/or herniated discs
- Muscle spasms
- Subluxations of the vertebrae
- Strain and/or injury to the muscles or ligaments supporting the back
- Small fractures to the spine from osteoporosis
Treatment goals will be to reestablish balance of the muscles, restore movement and correct any misalignments of the joints. The use of Chiropractic adjustments, Soft Tissue Therapy and possibly Class IV Laser Therapy which is highly effective in getting you back to work or back in the game quickly!
If you suffer from this condition, please contact my office to schedule an appointment.
Headaches
The primary objective of chiropractic care is find and reduce the underlying cause of your headache.
Many forms of headaches are linked to cervical spine disorders. When a vertebra becomes misaligned, sensitive nerves become irritated and produce symptoms that include head pain.
- Tension headaches
- Migraines
- Sinus Pressure or pain
- TMJ pain causing secondary headaches
Of course there are other factors that can cause migraines and headaches, such as stress, nutritional deficiencies and hormone imbalances are just a few common causes. But a Chiropractor takes a comprehensive approach to your treatment examining any potential trauma to the spine and evaluating any possible underline conditions. Chiropractic adjustments are one solution in the treatment of headaches.
Treatment goals will be to reestablish balance of the muscles, restore movement and correct any misalignments of the joints. Wrist Injuries
Your wrist problem may be a misalignment of one or more joints in your neck, shoulder, elbow or wrist.
If you have any of the following wrist injuries:
- Carpel Tunnel Syndrome
- Double crush syndrome.
- Ligament Damage
- Wrist Sprain/Strain
- Numbness or Tingling
- Thoracic Outlet Syndrome
Chiropractic techniques that work so well with the spine can be applied to other joints of the body. Virtually every joint is susceptible to fixations and malfunctions that impair function and range of motion. Trauma, micro-traumas, vibrations and repetitive motions are often culprits.
The carpal tunnel is a band of ligaments and small bones in your wrist. Painful symptoms can result when nerves are compressed by a collapse of this nerve “tunnel.” Many are surprised to learn that the cause of their wrist problem may be due to functional changes to one or more joints of the neck, shoulder, elbow or wrist subluxations may compromise the workings of any structure between it and the tip of your littlest finger. This is often called the :

Pinched Nerve
Like an open window, nerve openings along your spine must be clear and unobstructed.
It’s called a pinched nerve because that’s what it feels like. But there’s a lot more going on!
The 24 moving bones of your spine protect your spinal cord while permitting normal turning and bending. Pairs of nerve roots, one on each side, branch off your spinal cord at each segmental level to service the organs and tissues of your body. When these openings are obstructed, even slightly, your brain can’t properly control and regulate your body.
When a spinal bone is malpositioned, it can encroach upon these important nerve openings. Nerve irritation can result. We call that a subluxation.
Two Types
When spinal bones lose their normal motion or position, it can cause one of two types of nerve disturbances:
- Compressed lesion – This is just a fancy name for a pinched nerve. What surprises many is that it’s actually quite rare. More common is a…
- Facilitative lesion – This is when the nerve root is stretched, twisted or chafed. Think: hard tissue rubbing on soft tissue.
But remember, bones are static structures. They don’t move unless muscles move them. And muscles don’t move bones unless commanded by the nervous system. An irritated nerve creates a vicious loop. My job is to locate these areas of your spine and reduce their impact on your nervous system.
Foot Pain or Injuries
The foot is a common site for pain. Made up of many bones, it is easy for trauma and injury to occur. In treating foot pain, it is important to locate the source of the pain.
- Plantar Fasciitis
- Morton’s Neuroma
- Heel pain
- Sprain/Strain
- Fractures

If you suffer from any of these conditions, please contact my office to schedule an appointment.
Arthritis
Arthritis is a condition that produces pain at the joints. In the most common cases, it is either an autoimmune disorder (Rheumatoid arthritis) or occurs when the surfaces of the joints wear out (Osteoarthritis). Arthritis causes the joints to swell, resulting in pain and stiffness, loss of range of motion especially in the hands, feet, hips and spine.
The holistic approach of chiropractic care focuses on relieving pressure along the joints to help increase the range of motion, helping to relieve pain and pressure buildup along the joints. Chiropractic treatments enable the body to improve the range of motion with fewer restrictions and bring nutrition into the affected area.
Chiropractic care also focuses on lifestyle changes to focus on overall health to reduce pain and help reduce or eliminate the need for pain medications.
Treatment goals will be to reestablish balance of the muscles, restore movement and correct any misalignments of the joints. The use of Chiropractic adjustments, Soft Tissue Therapy, Nutrition and possibly the use of Class IV Laser Therapy which is highly effective in reducing or eliminating pain and restoring range of motion.

At first glance, most people don’t see the connection between chiropractic and pregnancy. However, there are four stages in which having an optimally working nervous system can help both mother and child.
Many pregnant patients often report shorter, more pleasant deliveries when they receive chiropractic care.
Pre-Conception
Chiropractic care prepares the body to be as strong and as balanced as possible to carry the pregnancy.
Pregnancy
Regular chiropractic care during pregnancy appeals to mothers who seek a natural approach to better health. It assures the pelvis maintains proper alignment and the the nerve flow to all the organs is not compromised. It also decreases the incidents of sciatic pain, SI pain and ligament pain. It has also show to help with headaches and upper back pain which occurs with the mother’s changing body.
Labor and Birth
Many rely on chiropractic care to help assure optimum biomechanics of the hips and spine in the hopes of reducing the need for interventions during the birth process.
After Birth
Even natural births can stress a baby’s spine. Breastfeeding problems can arise if the baby has a subluxation and is unable to comfortably turn its head to one side.
Relax. We use special approaches to make our adjustments safe and comfortable for you and your child.
Will adjustments hurt my baby?
Of course not. This is a common concern among parents who mistakenly think their child will receive adjustments like the ones they receive. Not only are adjusting techniques modified for each person’s size and unique spinal problem, an infant’s spine rarely has the long-standing muscle tightness seen in adults. This makes the energy needed to adjust a child’s spine considerably less than an adult’s does.
Will adjustments make my spine too loose?
No. Only the spinal joints that are “locked up” receive adjustments. This allows weakened muscles and ligaments to stabilize and heal.
Pregnancy is natural. Why would I need chiropractic?
Being born is a natural phenomenon. It’s what we’ve done to the birth process that has become increasingly suspect. In hospitals, birth is often treated like a disease. A newborn’s introduction to the world is often accompanied by a severe drop in temperature, loud noises and other insensitivities. The administration of drugs and anesthesia can have a profound effect on a newborn.
Will my medical doctor approve?
First, you don’t need anyone’s approval to seek a chiropractic opinion about health issues affecting your child! The judgment of another health care expert is always helpful in the decision-making process. Medical practitioners keeping up with the latest pediatric chiropractic research are starting to understand the value of this natural, drug-free approach to better health. Do your research and make an informed decision- one not out of fear but from knowledge.
What does my spine have to do with my baby?
Pregnancy may be one of the best times to receive chiropractic care! While it’s always good to have an optimally functioning nervous system, it’s especially helpful now. Both mother and baby can benefit. Adjusting methods are adapted to a mother’s size, weight and condition. During this period of weight gain and hormonal changes, many mothers seek chiropractic care. Some report shorter and easier births.
Children’s Health & Chiropractic
Children often respond quickly to chiropractic care and seem to prefer our natural approach.
Children are some of the biggest beneficiaries of chiropractic care. Surprised? Those who think of chiropractic as primarily a solution for neck and back problems are surprised to learn that chiropractic can be helpful for many types of childhood health problems.
Headaches
The nervous system, consisting of the brain, spinal cord and all the nerves of the body, controls and regulates the entire body. Many childhood health problems are merely the result of nervous system interference, usually along the spine.
My gentle adjusting techniques help reduce these disturbances so your child’s body can resume working as it was designed. Better health is the natural result when the brain and body have clear communication pathways.
Ear infections
Biomechanical restrictions in the upper spine can compromise the nervous system and immune system, making your child’s ears a breeding ground for viral infection.
Colic
Birth trauma, even from so-called “natural” birthing experiences can often produce a child’s first nerve compromise. Lacking the ability to communicate, your baby cries. And cries.
ADHD
For some reason, ADHD seems to afflict boys more often than girls.
However, since ADHD appears as a neurological disorder and chiropractic care attempts to reduce nervous system disturbances, many parents who want a natural, non-drug solution for their child have found chiropractic care helpful. Addressing Nutritional changes and well as Lifestyle changes are shown to be very effective.
First Things First
Begin by making nutritional and lifestyle changes. Rule out environmental factors by reducing your child’s exposure to substances that are increasingly common these days:
Remove food dyes, preservatives and additives from the diet.
Focus on natural, organic foods grown without pesticides or herbicides.
Determine if an allergy is involved such as dairy or gluten and eliminate.
Eliminate all sugars and artificial sweeteners.
Reduce the use of cleaning agents, detergents, fabric softeners and other chemicals.
These are wise choices whether your child has the symptoms associated with ADHD or not!
Chiropractic: Pure and Natural
Instead of treating the various symptoms of hyperactivity, we look for disturbances to the child’s nervous system. We often find problems caused by spinal distortions in the upper neck. In fact, this link between the spine, brain stem dysfunction and ADHD is common. A thorough chiropractic examination can reveal noticeable spinal distortion, even a reversal of the normal neck curve. That’s why we often recommend a schedule of safe and natural chiropractic adjustments, nutrition and lifestyle changes.
Bedwetting
Lack of bladder control can cause shame, guilt and impaired social skills.
Bedwetting takes a tremendous toll on children. Embarrassment. Alarms. No sleepovers.
Plastic mattress covers. Frustration. Unable to fit in. Even diapers.
Up to the age of four or five, most children have poor bladder control at night. But after that, the inability to stay dry at night may be a sign of an underlying problem. While chiropractic is not a treatment for bedwetting (nocturnal enuresis), countless children have been helped with safe and natural chiropractic care.
Bladder Physiology: Two key muscles control the emptying of the bladder. Their technical names are the detrusor and trigone muscles. Nerves that exit the spinal column in the lower back and sacrum control these muscles.
During the early years of life, the sacrum has five separate segments. Later, they fuse together to form the triangular-shaped bone that adults have at the base of the spine. If these segments misalign (falling, learning to walk, ride a bike, etc.) they may compromise nerves that are responsible for bladder function.
We look for these sometimes subtle misalignments during our examination. When these misalignments are reduced with safe and natural chiropractic adjustments, nervous system control and regulation of the bladder may often be restored.
Published Reports
The Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics document many studies showing the positive benefits of chiropractic care.
A study of 46 children received chiropractic care for a 10-week period. A quarter of those receiving chiropractic care had 50% or more reduction in the wet night frequency, while none among the control group saw a reduction. (JMPT 1994 (Nov-Dec);17 (9): 596-600)
Children with a history of persistent bed-wetting received eight chiropractic adjustments. Number of wet nights fell from seven per week to four. (JMPT 1991 (Feb);14 (2): 110-115)
The lumbar spine of an eight-year-old male bed wetter was adjusted once and at a one-month follow-up. There was a complete resolution of enuresis. “This happened in a manner that could not be attributed to time or placebo effect.” (JMPT 1994 (Jun);17 (5): 335-338)
Asthma
By reducing neurological compromise to the bronchial tubes, lungs and diaphragm with chiropractic care, attacks can often be reduced or eliminated with chiropractic care. Improved immune system function as well as diet changes can also be helpful in combating asthma.
Growing Pains
Pain of any type is a warning that something isn’t right. While considered a “phase they’re going through,” it’s usually a sign that biomechanical stress to the nervous system is present. Proper alignment of the bones and joints, along with the associated muscles can be very important to development. Also nutritional supplementation may be helpful and necessary to aid in proper development. For example, Vitamin D, Calcium, Magnesium, Potassium, Essential Fatty Acids are just a few necessary elements that aid in development.
Scoliosis
Instead of crude bracing or the all too common “wait and watch” approach, chiropractic care has helped countless children with this common disfigurement. Through proper alignment of the spine and pelvis; along with strengthening exercises change at a young age is possible.

Wellness
An obvious symptom isn’t required! Enjoy the peace of mind of having your infant or child checked to uncover structural or neurological problems before they become serious. Prevention over crisis is the key.
Many of the hard-to-correct problems we see in adults are long-standing problems that began, and remained undetected in childhood.
Dr. Brenda makes it a point to educate her patients every step of the way.

Today’s chiropractic education has an emphasis on science.
The fact is, educational requirements for today’s chiropractor are among the most stringent of any of the health care professions.
Today’s chiropractor receives a broad and inclusive education. In fact, it’s quite comparable to that received by medical practitioners.
Before acceptance to a five-year chiropractic college, prospective chiropractors must complete a minimum of three years of undergraduate work with a heavy emphasis on the basic sciences.
This focus on science continues during the first two years of study, emphasizing classroom and laboratory work in anatomy, physiology, public health, microbiology, pathology and biochemistry. Later, the focus is on specialized subjects, including chiropractic philosophy and practice, along with chiropractic diagnosis and adjusting methods. Since chiropractors don’t prescribe drugs, instead of studying pharmacology and surgery, they receive an even deeper training in anatomy, physiology, rehabilitation, nutrition, diagnosis, X-ray and a variety of adjusting techniques that aren’t taught in any other health care field.
In addition, Chiropractors do additional training outside of the classroom setting in their area of interest such as: Nutrition, Pediatrics, Sports to name a few.
Chiropractors are also required to take 24 hours of continuing education each year.
Disparaging the educational achievements of today’s chiropractor is an outdated belief from another era.

By any definition, chiropractic adjustments are safe.
The argument about safety concerns is an example of “junk science” and a favorite by those who have an interest in discouraging people from seeking chiropractic care.
Because of the popularity of this tactic, year after year it has been the subject of countless research projects. The result of these studies show complications from neck adjustments, the supposedly “riskiest” chiropractic procedure, are exceedingly rare:
1972 – One death in several tens of million adjustments
1978 – One in 10,000,000 neck adjustments
1981 – One in a 1,000,000 neck adjustments
1983 – Two to three per 1,000,000 adjustments
1985 – One in 400,000 neck adjustments
1993 – One in 3,846,153 neck adjustments
1995 – One in 2,000,000 neck adjustments
1996 – One in 900,000 neck adjustments
The most recent in-depth review of the relationship between stroke and chiropractic care, was published in the February 15, 2008 issue of Spine Journal. It looked at 10 years of hospital records, involving 100 million person-years.
The verdict?
There was no evidence of an increase in vertebral artery dissection risk with chiropractic, compared with medical management. Based on this review, stroke, particularly vertebrobasilar dissection, should be considered a random and unpredictable complication of any neck movement, including cervical manipulation.
In other words, cases of serious injury are practically nonexistent. By comparison, it makes the deaths caused by over-the-counter-pain-relievers to be considerably more troubling! Although reports vary, annual deaths in the United States attributable to NSAIDs (Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs such as aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, diclofenac, ketoprofen and tiaprofenic acid) range from 3,200 to higher than 16,500 deaths and 76,000 hospitalizations.9
Even risk-adverse insurance companies recognize the safety of today’s chiropractic care. The premiums for malpractice insurance paid by chiropractors are a mere fraction of what medical practitioners must pay. Chiropractic care is safe.

Although the science behind Chiropractic remains the same throughout the profession, the “Art” of manipulation may differ. Not all chiropractic adjustments and techniques are the same. Some will use their hands, others use tables or instruments to assist them in making the necessary change. You will need to determine which technique or philosophy is right for you.
For me in this office, I use my hands for the majority of treatment. I have developed a gentle, specific and highly effective technique. With all the technology and lack of human contact- I feel we are missing personalized care and the human element of touch. That is what sets me apart.
“CHIROPRACTIC comes from the Greek words “praxis” and “cheir“, meaning to practice or to treat using hands. It’s kind of amazing when you think about it. Doctors who do not use drugs or chemicals; doctors who leverage the body’s ability to heal itself.
It’s a scientific fact that your nervous system controls everything.
How do you define “scientific?”
If you define it as the systematic pursuit of knowledge involving the recognition of a problem, the collection of data through observation and experiment and then testing the resulting hypotheses, then today’s chiropractic is quite scientific. Because it’s based on the scientific fact that the nervous system controls and regulates virtually every cell, tissue, organ and system of the body.
Don’t be misled by the “low-tech” nature of chiropractic adjustments! There are a growing number of studies that suggest the chiropractic approach to reducing nerve disturbance along the spine, may enhance the ability of the brain and nerve system to control and regulate the body.
These include published research documenting the results of chiropractic care on asthma, infantile colic, immune function, dysmenorrhea (menstrual cramps), improving vision and brain function, lower back pain, one’s overall health status and many others.
